Unsure whether you should learn on an automatic or manual bike? Here at RideTo we would suggest training on an automatic if you are a complete beginner as you won’t have to worry about clutch control or gears. There’s plenty of other things to learn and master so there’s no point in making it harder for yourself! If you choose to buy a manual motorbike in the future after passing your CBT, you then have the chance to take another short training course - a Gear Conversion Course once you are more confident with the basics of riding. Technically you can legally ride a manual motorcycle even if you pass your CBT on an automatic, however making sure you can confidently use a clutch and gears before going out on the road is the safest option for yourself and other road users. If you would like to learn more about the differences between Automatic and Manual bikes, check out our guide on our blog.
