If you find it easier to travel to the South of Leeds, Tommy Bee Motorcycle Training in Rothwell could be a good option for your CBT test.

Manual or Automatic Bike for a CBT?

This can often be the hardest decision when booking a CBT - do you want to learn on an automatic scooter or a 125cc manual motorbike?

The choice is completely yours and conveniently, you are able to ride either type of gearbox once you have passed your CBT test so you aren’t restricted to what you train on.

Despite this, riding a manual motorbike is quite different to riding an automatic. With a manual bike you have to master clutch control and gear selection.

Therefore, RideTo recommends that if you plan to ride a manual after passing your CBT, you should learn on a manual motorbike as it will make you a safer driver when out on the roads.

If you’re worried about learning everything in just one day, RideTo offers a couple of options to help make the whole experience less stressful which are explained below.

The RideTo Peace of Mind Policy

We all learn at different speeds and some people have more experience of riding other vehicles such as cars or bicycles on the road which means ultimately some will find a CBT more daunting than others.

During a CBT you will be expected to learn how to ride safely over the course of just one day and for most people this is completely achievable.

If you think there’s a chance you won't master the skills in this time frame, you may want to consider adding the Peace of Mind Policy to your booking.

Should your instructor feel you aren't safe on the roads after the 8 hour course they will ask you to come back for further training and this will cost you the same amount of money again.

However, for only £29.99 the Peace of Mind Policy will cover the cost of your second day of training should you need it. This could save you on average over £130!

If this sounds like a good way to take the pressure out of your first CBT test, add this policy to your booking at the checkout or add it to an existing booking anytime before your course starts by filling in this form.

Should I Complete an ITM Before a CBT?

Another alternative for riders who are worried about passing their CBT the first time is to complete an ITM before a CBT.

An ITM stands for Introduction to Motorcycling and it’s exactly that -a short, 2 hour introduction course which will teach you the core skills of riding a motorbike.

While you don’t get a licence at the end of it, it will make you feel more prepared for your CBT test and put you in a better position for passing after just 1 day of training.
