CBT Test Requirements
Do you have everything needed in order to complete a CBT test? Firstly you have to be 16 or over to do a CBT. If you are under 17 you will only be allowed to train and ride a 50cc moped once you pass.
Before you book your CBT you will be asked to acknowledge that you can ride an adult-sized bicycle to show you know how to balance on a 2 wheeled vehicle as this makes learning to ride a motorbike a lot easier.
You will also need to confirm you can speak and understand English to a good level, this is because it is vital that you understand everything the instructor talks about during the training day so that you are safe to ride on the roads.
You must also understand the Highway Code before attending your CBT test. If you’ve learnt to drive a car this is something you should know already, but even if you have passed your driving licence you may want to brush up on your knowledge if you haven’t driven for a while for example.
Your instructor will ask you questions throughout the course of the day to make sure you know the rules of the road.
Licence wise you must bring either your provisional driving licence, full UK drivers licence or an EU licence with a UK counterpart depending on which you have. The only other document you must bring is your National Insurance number just in case of a licence check.
Other requirements of the CBT test are that you turn up on time (late attendance is not acceptable and you will be turned away) you must also wear the correct protective clothing which will be stated when you book, in your booking confirmation email and also in our clothing guide.
Then finally, there is an eye test at the start of the CBT test, if you are unable to read a registration plate from 20.5 meters away (with or without glasses) you won’t be able to proceed with training as this is deemed unsafe.
