How Can I Book My CBT Test in Dudley?

Situated between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, Dudley is surrounded by many CBT test centres so, whether you’re thinking of getting on 2 wheels for commuting, having fun or for job purposes, RideTo can get you booked in for a CBT test easily at a test centre near you!

All you need to do is enter your postcode into the RideTo search bar and all of our partner training sites within a 30 mile radius will appear. You can then choose one of the CBT test locations that works best for you.

You may choose the closest site to where you live, or one that offers the hire of a helmet, jacket and gloves included in the package price. Other things to consider are how easy it is to get to via public transport or whether there is on-site parking.

Options near Dudley are Black Country Motorcycle Training in Tipton or one of BlackTop Motorcycle Training’ sites in Cradley Heath or at the Goals soccer centre in Rowley Regis.

When Do CBT Tests Happen and How Much Do They Cost?

Most courses start between 8am or 9am around Dudley but be sure to check the start time when you are looking at all of the locations and make sure you can arrive in plenty of time as you must not be late for your training.

All CBT tests are just one day, lasting around 6-8 hours.

The price of a CBT test will vary between sites, this is because they all offer slightly different packages and facilities.

In Dudley expect to pay between £125 and £150 for a CBT test.

What Happens During a CBT Test?

A CBT test is for anyone looking to start riding a moped, scooter or motorbike. It is for complete beginners or those who have some previous experience with bikes.

You don’t need to know anything before your training apart from understanding the Highway Code. This is vital so do make sure you study and learn the rules of the roads in the UK.

Some people like to learn as much as possible before their training, this just means there is less to learn from scratch on the day which might be less daunting and mean you have a higher chance of ‘passing’.

RideTo has lots of helpful blog posts about learning to ride from understanding the controls on the motorbike to how to ride around roundabouts and what different road signs mean.

The CBT test is split into 5 main sections. Firstly you will have an introduction from your instructor and you will need to pass an eye test to prove you are safe to ride on the roads.

The second section is where you will learn how the vehicle works and how to start and stop the engine, along with learning how to dismount safely and push the bike.

The on-site CBT riding section of the training day is where you start to learn maneuvers on the bike within the safety of the training pad. You will be taught how to change gears (even if you are leaning on an automatic bike) and how to use your brakes safely.

The fourth section is theory based so you will go back into the classroom where you will be taught how to ride legally, responsibly and safely around other road users.

During the last section of the day you will be taken out onto the road to demonstrate everything you have learned. The instructor will ride behind you and, via an earpiece, will direct you on where to ride. If they feel you are safe and have gotten to grips with everything they will ‘pass’ you and you will be able to legally ride up to a 125cc scooter or moped (age depending).
