Doncaster CBT Tests
Doncaster is lucky enough to have a RideTo CBT test centre right in the heart of the city.
Our partner training school in Doncaster is The CBT & DAS Motorcycle Training School Ltd and it’s conveniently located by the River Don (near Halfords) which makes it easy to get to for anyone living in and around Doncaster.
CBT test training starts at 8am but you will need to arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in and get ready for training.
Also allow plenty of time to travel there because if you turn up late to training you are likely to be turned away. This is a rule set by the DVSA for safety reasons, so you don’t miss any vital information given by your instructor at the start of the course.
What Are the Restrictions of a CBT Licence?
After completing a CBT training course there are restrictions as to what you can ride unless you take further training to get a full Motorcycle licence.
If you’re 17 or over and complete your CBT test you can ride up to a 125cc scooter or motorbike. If you’re looking to ride an electric bike, then the equivalent restriction is 11Kw.
A CBT licence also restricts where you can ride, you aren’t allowed to ride on motorways and you cannot take passengers on the back of your bike on any roads.
It’s worth taking into consideration that a CBT licence is also only valid for 2 years so you will need to repeat a CBT test every time it runs out to stay legal when out on the roads.
This cost adds up over the years/decades so you may want to look into completing a full licence course which lasts forever once you pass.
Another restriction is that regardless of whether you have just completed your first CBT or have done multiple CBT tests and ridden for years, you will need to display L plates on your bike at all times.
How to Book a CBT in Doncaster
Using the RideTo booking platform, all you need to do is enter your postcode and browse your nearest CBT test centres. Once you have selected the most convenient option, you will then be asked to pick a date for your training.
Next you will choose whether you train on an automatic or manual bike - if you are unsure, take a read through our helpful guide comparing the two options.
Luckily the bike you choose to learn on doesn't affect what you are able to ride after passing your CBT test. You can still ride a manual 125cc motorbike after learning on a 50cc automatic scooter.
We would however recommend that if possible, you train on the sort of bike you plan to ride on in the future, as this will make you a safer, more capable rider.
RideTo has lots of helpful add-ons that you can add to your booking order if you need some guidebooks or gear to wear for your CBT test.
All you need to do then is enter your details, read the terms and conditions and your booking request will be sent to an instructor.
Once they have confirmed your booking you will receive a confirmation email outlining all the useful information you need to know about your training day.
