Are you searching for a CBT Test centre near Cambridge? RideTo has two partner schools offering day courses that will enable you to get your CBT certificate in just one day!
Newmarket is the closest location for a CBT near to Cambridge. Based in a village on the outskirts of the town in Exning, 121 Motorbike Training School is a great place to take your CBT test.
It’s not the easiest location to get to via public transport from Cambridge as it’s not connected by a train line and isn’t in the town centre however there are some bus options that can get you there. We would advise driving or getting a lift to your bike test to not risk any holds up and make sure you get to your CBT on time!
If you don’t turn up before your CBT starts you will not be allowed to train and you will have to pay to come back another time. These rules aren’t set by the CBT school but by the DVSA who have your safety in mind. Missing any part of the course would mean you might miss vital information.
Another CBT location a bit further away from Cambridge is Shires Motorcycle Training in Peterborough, which is about an hours drive from Cambridge.
What is a CBT test?
A CBT test is the first step in learning how to ride a motorbike. Getting one will allow you to ride either a 50cc moped or 125cc scooter or motorbike, depending on your age (see here for more information on UK laws and licences).
CBT stands for Compulsory Basic Training and therefore isn’t an actual test so you can’t technically ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ however by completing the one day course you will receive a CBT certificate which is the legal requirement you need to ride certain motorbikes on UK roads.
You will have to demonstrate that you can safely ride a motorbike after being taught how to ride on your training day. If the instructor at the training course feels you are not safe to ride after one day they will tell you to come back for further training to make sure you are safe to be on the roads.
