Why You Should Learn to Ride a Motorcycle in Blackpool

People learn to ride motorbikes for many reasons, for some the dream of being a biker and going on road trips has always been there and they have been counting down the days until they can ride their dream bike, for others, it’s simply a mode of transport to get them from A to B.

Nowadays being able to ride opens up lots of job opportunities thanks to the booming courier industry, whether that’s fast food or parcel deliveries.

Positioned on the Northwest Coast of the UK, Blackpool is near some great coastal roads and countryside, perfect for day trips out on your bike, riding solo or as a group.

If you do decide to ride in a group after passing your CBT test, read through our helpful guide on How To Safely Ride In A Big Group over on our blog.

For whatever reason you have decided to learn to ride, a CBT test is the first (and sometimes only) stepping stone into riding a motorbike - however, it all depends on what you want to ride…

What Type of Motorbike Can I Ride After a CBT Test?

As long as you are 17 years of age or older, you can legally ride any manual or automatic moped, scooter or motorbike that has an engine power of up to 125cc, after completing and passing a CBT test

If you want to ride an electric scooter/motorbike the limit is 11kw (15bhp).

Those learning to ride at 16 can only ride a 50cc moped with a maximum speed of 28mph until they turn 17.

Check out our guide on the Coolest Bikes You Can Ride With A CBT Licence.

If a 125cc / 11kw bike doesn’t cut it for you, after your CBT you will need to do a Full Licence Course. This course consists of multiple days of training followed by 2 practical tests and you are also required to complete a theory test first.
