What Is A CBT Test?

CBT Training often referred to as a CBT Test can be confusing as in fact there is no test involved. During your CBT Test day the instructor will take you through the 5 steps of the CBT and their goal is to ensure that when you ride solo that you are in no danger to yourself or anyone else on the roads.

Can I Take A Motorcycle Lesson Before My CBT?

Unlike learning to drive a car, when you are learning to ride a motorbike you do not need an extensive amount of expensive lessons to get on the road on two wheels. CBT Training does not require any prior experience and can be taken without being around a scooter or motorcycle.

If you are in need of a taster lesson then you can book an Introduction To Motorcycling Course. This is a 2 hour session with an instructor to give you an idea of what life on two wheels is all about. If you are unsure about riding a motorcycle then this is a great place to start!

What Occurs On The Day Of CBT Training?

On the day of your CBT Training you will have 5 parts of the day to complete. The first 4 parts of the day are completed in a safe environment for the student to get to grips with controlling the motorcycle safely. During the majority of the day you will learn the basics such as throttle control, junctions, left/right turns and stopping.

In the fifth and final part of the day you will undertake a 2 hour road ride that is 2 hours minimum by law. You will ride round the local proximity to the CBT Training location in Swindon with the instructor talking to you via an ear piece.

At the end of the day if you have trained safely and well throughout the day the instructor will issue you with your CBT certificate. Following getting insurance and a road legal bike you will be able to ride the roads always displaying L plates, not carrying a pillion passenger and not going on motorways.
