CBT Licence at st-helens

St Helens CBT training

St Helens is a historic Merseyside Town just over 5 miles north of the River Mersey, and a great place to book your CBT motorcycle test. At RideTo we are committed to getting you to enjoy the freedom of two wheels, whether thats riding a scooter for work or a motorcycle for just getting around.

The 5 part CBT course is designed to help you to become a safe rider when driving your motorcycle or scooter. It is a legal requirement to undertake the Compulsory Basic Training in order to ride a motorcycle in the UK

As well as St Helens, our motorcycle training sites cover nearby areas including Birkenhead and Sale.

What happens during the CBT test?

The CBT (short for compulsory basic training) is not actually a motorcycle test, the clue is in the name. It’s a basic training course that is split into 5 elements:

If you pass all of these elements you will be given a CBT certificate. This will allow you to ride a motorcycle up to 125cc on the road in the UK as long as you display L plates,do not carry passengers, and do not travel on the motorway.

What can I do after the CBT test? - what bike can i ride?

The CBT is only the first step to obtaining your motorcycle licence and your passport to freedom.

At RideTo we have other courses available such as the introduction to Motorcycling course - ITM Training and Full Licence Training

Of course the first thing you’ll want to do is to ride the local roads - we recommend taking a trip to the beautiful World of Glass museum, or a short ride to the famous Dream Sculpture (via the clock face!)

How much does a CBT cost ?

The motorcycle CBT course itself costs between £120 and £150, these prices are set by the instructors themselves and usually relates directly to operating costs such as rent, fuel prices, instructor pay and taxes. We also offer a peace of mind policy for £29.99, buying this will ensure that if you fail to successfully complete the training, you will be covered for the cost of booking another course in most cases.
