What Do I Need To Bring With Me On The Day Of My CBT Test?
The first thing you need to ensure you have with you is your provisional licence or driving licence if you already have one. It will need to be the physical card, a photo or a scan will not be accepted.
Alongside this, you will need to ensure you have your national insurance number with you. Both of these are necessary so instructors are able to carry out a licence check require before you can start training.
The first thing you will be asked to do as part of the training is an eyesight test. Now, this isn't designed to catch you out, you simply have to read a licence plate from a distance of 20m. If you need glasses or contact lenses to see this kind of distance then ensure you have them with you. You will be unable to proceed with your training if you cannot pass the eyesight test.
We also recommend you bring some packed lunch and water with you on the day of your CBT test. Not all of our schools have local shops near to them so make sure you’re fueled up and ready to go.
How Can I Prepare For A CBT Test?
We firstly recommend reading up and practising your highway code knowledge. You can be turned away if you’re unable to demonstrate a good understanding of the highway code during your CBT test. If you don't already drive then we highly recommend purchasing the Highway Code Book.
We always want to try and provide you with the most information possible which is why we created the New Rider Journal. Not only does this include information about the highway code, it also covers everything you need to know to get through your CBT test and then into the biking world afterwards.
