Licences Required to Learn to Ride a Motorbike
To complete a CBT test you must have a valid licence card whether that’s a UK driving licence, UK provisional licence or EU licence with UK counterpart licence number. You will need the physical version with you at your training, instructors don’t accept photos or photocopies.
Can I ride a 125cc motorbike on a CBT?
If you’re 17 or over, you’re able to ride a 125cc after completing a CBT test, but if you’re 16 you will be restricted to riding a 50cc moped at a speed limit of 28mph until your 17th birthday.
If you don’t take any further training after a CBT you won’t be able to ride on motorways or take any passengers on the back of your bike. You will also have to ride with an L plate on your bike. These are the restrictions for all who have a CBT licence.
