Blacktop Motorcycle Training - Black Heath is a family-run motorcycle training business based in the heart of the Midlands and is well known for delivering top-notch training to surrounding areas.
The team of instructors have over 55 years of combined experience which is why they are able to continue to deliver the best possible training for any rider regardless of previous experience, age or motivation. All instructors are DVSA (Driving Vehicle Standard Agency) approved and really do take pride in their performance!
On the day of your training, you'll be greeted by a friendly member of the team who will get you signed and in ready to rock and roll at the start of the day. The instructor is able to provide motorcycle gear if needed, this includes a helmet, gloves and jacket if you have not had a chance to purchase these before the course. We do always recommend getting your own beforehand to ensure you have the best protection on the course.
You'll find this site located in Goals Soccer Centre in Rowley Regis, Black Heath. It’s conveniently near the Rowley Regis Train Station which is a 5-minute walk door to door, making it super accessible for those travelling by public transport.
Learning to ride at Blacktop will give you all the knowledge and skills you will need to ride on the roads whether you plan to ride a Moped, Scooter or bigger Motorbike. The supportive, patient and passionate team of instructors will make sure you learn everything you need to ride safely on the roads!

Great team at black top. I came for my CBT at the start of July - Meg is very patient and relaxed and talks you through it very well.
Then just passed my full cat A licence after a 3 day course with Craig who was also excellent and really put me at ease and built my confidence for the test.
The team here are friendly and welcoming (I had done a CBT years ago but other than that very little riding experience) and yet the progress I have made allowed me to pass my test first time. Well done Stephen in creating a fun environment to learn to ride.

What a brilliant experience with Steve, down to earth, clear and concise without making you uncomfortable and always ensuring you’re happy to continue.
I didn’t know exactly what the day would be like so kept an open mind, needless to say if I go on to do further lessons this would be the place to come to.
Emphasis is definitely on staying safe as well which was important to me, thank you Steve, I had a great day and learned so much from you!

Rip off merchants!
My son was booked on the CBT 'training' course, or lack of training more like!
On the day he was booked with an experienced rider from India who just needed a UK licence and another experienced rider with points looking to get back on the road.
My son completed the first hour health and safety briefing and then moved on to the getting to know the bike on a car park. My son is a complete novice, has not been illegally riding bikes on fields so had zero experience, hence attending a CBT, again, emphasis on the training, else how can one get "legal" motorbike experience.
My son was not deemed competent enough with the clutch after the first 2 hours so quite rightly was not allowed on the road.
Here's the rip off part!
Government guidelines state that more than 2 learner riders require 2 instructors on the road, 1 or 2 learner riders only require a single instructor.
There was an instructor available, but instead of keep my lad back at the car park and continuing his training, he was sent home!
He paid £165 for an hours briefing and only 2 hours riding. This to me is not fulfilling a full days training as per what's been paid for in the CBT.
I think both instructors have wanted an early finish, which is deplorable and has knocked my lads confidence!
STEER WELL CLEAR OF THESE RIP OFF MERCHANTS!

Would 100% recommend, massive thank you to Steve Meg and Gripper. Meg was very patient which is nice when your new learner, gripper brought the morale. Will be back for Mod 1 and 2, definitely recommend!

After a bad experience with a local company, I am positively shocked at the welcoming atmosphere at Blacktop. Steve, Meg and Craig are absolutely fantastic instructors who restored my faith and trust in instructors and kept me well supported whilst doing my CBT, MOD 1 and MOD 2. No complaints whatsoever. I won't think twice about coming back to do my full A licence. Thank You to everyone at Blacktop it's been a pleasure 😄

Great team of instructors very accommodating cups of tea on the go lunch provided if needed. They are great teachers happy to give demonstration's explains everything very clear couldn't ask for better would definitely recommend. Fantastic company, just done my cbt , mod 1 and mod 2 with these guys and honestly I can't thank them enough, Craig, Steve Megan and Sarah are great people.
Sarah was on the ball to get me a mod 2 booked she doesn't stop looking until she finds one. if you're keen to get on the road with your cbt or full bike licence don't look past these guys. Highly recommended for sure.

Well what an amazing day. I turned up to do my CBT a right nervous wreck and was made to feel comfortable from the get go. Steve and Meg are the most patient,knowledgeable,funny and understanding trainers you could ever wish to meet. Nothing was to much trouble for either of them. Each part of the training was not only discussed in great detail but also demonstrated and relaxed. I was reassured throughout the whole day. I would highly recommend using Blacktop and will be returning to complete the next stage on motorbike journey. Thank you both for a great experience.

I’m a really nervous driver I lost all my confidence on the road. I went with black top after a friend suggested it because online reviews are slightly dicey aren’t they? Any how, black top was amazing. The instructor, Meg was entirely lovely and chilled. There was no stress and she was remarkably patient. It was a good giggle too. It was nice to be able to have a joke while also receiving a fully professional experience. By the time I got on the road it felt almost as natural as breathing. I don’t have a full licence, but it was a nice easy route with everything you need for day to day driving there was no backseat driving or any shouting (had this before with another driving school). There was no tension at all. She fully explained road safety with out telling us we were going to crash and die a firey death every 2 minutes ( I have had this done to me before with another school even after I told them this was one of my biggest fears I was so stressed that I did not pass). With black top it was just an all round lovely experience. 10/10 would recommend.

Absolutely brilliant training provider, instructors are fun and very helpful. Would totally recommend doing your cbt here especially if you're a first time rider like myself, instructions on how to ride were thorough and easily understood. Also the ride quality of the bikes was great too. Enjoyed the whole day here.

Had my CBT with these guys on Sunday just gone but didn't get a chance to leave a review as i was too busy... enjoying my first week on bike (in my Rain Straight Through jacket). I would definitely recommend my instructor was incredible. Very patient with clear instructions and useful tips to help with any struggles you might have. If you wish to get on a motorbike yourself book your test with them and I'm sure you'll be out on the road in no time. Overall great experience 👌🏽

What a great journey I’ve had with Steve starting from my cbt to my full motorcycle license which I passed today I would like to say any one who is thinking of doing your motorcycle license this is the place and people to do it with Steve and all the staff are and we’re outstanding I would very highly recommend them and can’t thank them enough.

Today I went for my first CBT manual training and had the best experience ever. Both instructors were brilliant and gave us the best support in making us road safe, would recommend these to anyone in the future. Even went out there way and got us hot drinks and hot sandwiches to warm us up in the weather we’ve had today brilliant !!! I have completed my CBT with Blacktop Training. After 20 years since I last rode a motorcycle, I knew I would be a bit out of practice getting back into the saddle, but the instructions given were excellent, and the friendly banter from the entire team soon put me at ease. Just one day and you learn so much, I fully enjoyed every moment of the day and i recommend Blacktop Training, they are awesome, hopefully i will be coming back to take my full motorcycle licence....

Did my CBT today with Steve. Loved the banter and sense of humour but really appreciated the small pieces of advice. It has been 37 years since I got on a bike and was genuinely worried that at 55, it was beyond me. Steve’s pointers and intercom positivity was great during the ride. Started the ride at 30, then got to 40 and ended up doing 60, all felt very safe and very natural.
Loved every minute, can’t wait to move onto the next stages to get my full licence.

This was my third CBT but the first time I've taken it at Black Top MCT. I really enjoyed it from start to finish. Both Steve's were fantastic, supportive and passed on so many helpful tips and advice. Great sense of humour and a very fun day riding in the sunshine. They have given me the confidence to finally work towards my mod 1 and 2 and I I'm sure with their help I'll be ripping up the L plates in no time. Thanks guys.
