The first step on getting on two wheels in the UK is to take your CBT Training in Stoke. CBT Training stands for Compulsory Basic Training and typically takes between 6-8 hours on one day. This will allow you to ride a motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc.
The CBT is the minimum requirement by law to legally ride on the UK roads and the CBT lasts for 2 years. After 2 years you will need to either renew your CBT or take your full motorcycle licence. The minimum age requirement is 16 years of age. If you are 16 you will be restricted to a 50cc until you turn 17 and you can then ride up to 125cc.
The CBT itself does not involve any test and is simply training. CBT Training is taken by a qualified instructor who will ensure that you are safe on the roads riding solo and are in no danger to yourself or any other road user once you leave with your completed CBT certificate at the end of the day. The CBT is not guaranteed to be received at the end of the day as sometimes students require further training than the one day (this is for your own safety).
On the day of CBT Training you will be guided through the basic maneuvers of riding a motorcycle such as throttle control, balance, left/right turns and emergency stops. The majority of the day will be completed off-road in a safe environment away from other road users. In the final part of the day you will complete a 2 hour minimum by law on-road ride.
Following your CBT and successfully gaining your CBT certificate you will be able to ride on your own whilst always displaying L-plates, not going on motorways and not carrying a pillion passenger. If you are looking to remove these restrictions you will need to take your full motorcycle licence. With a valid CBT, insurance and legal bike you are good to go.
Motorcycle lessons in Stoke cost £130+. To get riding a motorbike you do not need motorcycle lessons like you would with a driving licence for a car. You are able to take CBT Training straight away with no prior experience of two wheels.
