Exeter has multiple Motorcycle training locations that provide excellent motorcycle lessons to suit every rider no matter their experience. If you’re looking to learn to ride quickly and safely, a one day CBT training course will be the one for you! For you more experienced riders looking to take your Full Motorbike licence, you will need to go to another location nearby such as Exmouth or Newton Abbot.
Firstly you will need a UK Provisional or full Driving Licence (or an EU licence with UK counterpart). Secondly you will have to turn up to your motorcycle training on time, in appropriate protective clothing which includes strong trousers such as jeans or motorcycle trousers and sturdy boots - check out our what to wear for motorcycle training guide.
Thirdly you will need to pass an eyesight test to prove you can read signs and signals at an acceptable distance. Then when riding the scooter you will need to show the instructor you can ride a motorcycle safely with control and that you have a good understanding of the UK Highway code and the English language. You will do this during your 2 hour road ride towards the end of the CBT training.
CBT tests cost between £168 and £175 depending on which training location you choose. If you are looking for advice on how much it then costs to actually buy a scooter/motorbike and all the costs involved post CBT test, read this handy blog post to learn more.
We have 2 locations for CBT training in Exeter, one based in Clyst St Mary and the other in Marsh Barton. You can book your motorcycle training at these locations on our website. If they don’t have the date or times that suit you, you could also book motorcycle lessons at our other locations nearby in Exmouth or Newton Abbot.
Exeter is a lovely part of the country to learn to ride a motorbike. Whether you have just passed your CBT training or Full Licence training, you will have great fun riding around the countryside and coastal roads of Devon.
Dartmoor National Park is a part of the official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in South Devon and it’s a motorcyclist’s dream! Roads that wind through the hilly landscape stretch out for miles - 2 wheels is a great way to travel around them and explore hidden gems - just remember to take snacks for picnic stops along the way to make it a great road trip!
‘The perfect place for a pit stop’ would be Cafe 53 at Bridge Motorcycles where you can chat to fellow bikers, grab some food or shop for motorcycle gear.
