Having the freedom of leaving when you want, not being squashed up next to a stranger on the tube or standing on a platform waiting for yet another delayed train, riding your own scooter or motorbike across central London is what we would call a no-brainer!
Surprisingly parking for motorcycles in central London is often free - just one of the many ways in which riding a motorbike will save you money over time!

What Do You Learn During a CBT Test?
Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) can be split into different sections. As most people completing a CBT test are complete beginners, you will be first taught all the controls on a motorbike, what they mean and how and when to use them.
Your instructor will also teach you what maintenance is required to keep a bike in working order and what safety checks are recommended before you use your bike each time.
You will then be told how to move and park the bike, whether you are learning on an automatic scooter or manual motorbike.
Then comes the more fun part - being taught and then practicing how to maneuver the bike, how to use the clutch and gears (for manual bikes) and most importantly how to brake safely.
Repetition is key when learning so you will be given lots of time to practice all of these maneuvers over and over again.
You will then spend some time off the bike learning about riding the bike on the road and different scenarios you might face.
It is expected that you will already know the Highway Code before you attend your CBT test as you will be asked questions relating to the rules of the road to check you will be safe.
Lastly you will spend around 2 hours out riding on different types of roads with your instructor riding behind you. They will tell you where to go and when to turn through an earpiece. They will be looking to check if you can ride safely on larger roads, quieter winding roads and busy roads with lots of other traffic and pedestrians.
If they consider you to be a safe rider they will give you a CBT certificate for completing the training day.
