What Are the Requirements for a CBT?

You have to be 16 or older in order to complete a CBT test in the UK. There are a few restrictions if you learn to ride at 16 years of age, you will only be able to ride at 28mph on a 50cc moped.

Another requirement is that you must speak and understand English to a high level in order to make sure you’ve learnt everything from your instructor.

Although you don’t need to have passed your driving test you must at least have a provisional driving licence and must bring it along to your CBT test.

If you have an EU driving licence, you must also have the UK counterpart licence number and bring both to your training day.

Having good eyesight is vital when driving any vehicle, so if you need glasses to read a registration plate clearly from 20.5 meters away, make sure you remember to bring them with you as there is an eyesight test at the start of the day which you must pass in order to move onto the rest of the training day.

A skill that is very important to have when learning how to ride a motorbike or scooter is being able to ride an adult sized bicycle, as this means you can balance a two wheeled vehicle.

Lastly you must turn up wearing suitable clothing and have any gear that is not already supplied by the training school (e.g helmet, gloves, jacket).

Once you have booked your CBT you will be sent a list of everything you need to bring, this is also listed before you book your CBT test.
