Why You Should Learn to Ride a Motorcycle in Coventry

Living in Coventry, or in fact any city, will no doubt require you to travel around lots whether it’s to get to work, college or university, as part of your job or for social reasons.

It’s therefore pretty key for you to be able to get to where you need to go quickly and easily, even though Coventry is a relatively small city, which is where motorbikes come in…

Choosing a moped, scooter or motorbike as your mode of transport around Coventry will make it cheaper for you to get around town compared to taking public transport (after the initial costs of buying a bike of course).

It gives you the flexibility to travel at any point that suits you as opposed to relying on bus and train timetables, allowing you to be more in control of your life.

Motorbikes give you the freedom to explore the local area, allowing you to easily ride to places like Rugby, Birmingham and Leicester (just as long as you avoid motorways as you cannot ride on these with just a CBT licence!).

Do I Need to Learn to Drive Before I Learn to Ride a Motorbike?

No, you do not need to already know how to drive in order to complete a CBT test to ride a motorbike / scooter or moped.

This is why learning to ride is a great option for 16 and 17 year olds who either aren’t old enough to drive a car or who don’t have the funds to learn to drive.

A CBT can give you freedom to get around without the need to rely on your parents or public transport.

CBT tests take only one day to complete for most people, making it significantly cheaper than learning to drive a car!

A day of training will cost you from around £120 - £200 depending on where you choose to complete your training course but in Coventry it will cost £135.

You will however need to get yourself a provisional driving licence. This can be applied for on the Governments website.

You must also know The Highway Code before you attend your motorcycle training (you would learn this if/when you learn to drive a car) so make sure you buy a book and read it carefully or study online if you don’t already know it.
