About Bridgend Motorcycle Training Centre

Bridgend Motorcycle Training Centre are a long-established team of instructors offering quality instruction in South Wales. All instructors are authorised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and provide a variety of motorcycle courses including Compulsory Basic Training also known as CBT Training as well as Direct Access Training (DAS).

Bridgend Motorcycle Training offers a friendly environment to train in, with professional instructors holding both IAM advanced motorcycle and ROSPA advanced lessons. The instructors truly pride themselves on being friendly and approachable as well as being fully qualified!

The instructors are a mix of ex-police motorcyclists, and ex-motorcycle examiners, with over 50 years of industry experience between them. Thanks to their ample experience they have a very high success/completion rate for their trainee riders.

The training off-road pad itself is large and spacious with a smooth surface which is perfect for beginner motorcyclists as you are able to simulate roads and junctions before heading out onto the road. The area is also ideal for riders looking to complete their full motorcycle training courses as a full module 1 motorcycle test can be simulated on-site, allowing you to have like-for-like training before the test.

The school has an exclusive fleet of AJS Mopeds and Motorcycles which they use for all their CBT courses. These bikes and scooters are beginner friendly and would make a perfect choice for new riders due to the forgiving nature of the clutch and engines. If you enjoy your training on an AJS you could even purchase one with Bridgend as they are an approved AJS dealership.

The training site is easy to find at this is located as the training pad is located within Waterton Industrial Estate. The closest station is Bridgend station if travelling by public transport which is a one-hour walk away from the site. There's also a bus route serving the school, from the station, if you'd prefer to catch the bus!

We would recommend bringing some snacks for lunchtime and plenty of water to keep you fuelled throughout the day, however, there are shops around a ten-minute walk away from the school if you forget.

Chris trained me from beginner to passing my MOD2 in a pretty short timeframe. He was very patient but strong in his teaching. His style made me totally at ease. At no point did I feel like Chris was trying to push anymore lessons than necessary and in fact got me through in less than I thought I needed. On top of that, just a great guy. Highly recommended. Why bother going elsewhere.

Did an hour taster session today with Bridgend Motorcycle Training Centre and what an experience. I have never ridden a motorbike before and was rather nervous.Within the one hour session I was riding the bike through cones,u turns, figure of 8's,changing gears and doing emergency stops. I've booked my CBT with them and once done I'll be doing my mod1/mod2. Can't recommend enough!

I recently did my cbt here and can say i was very pleased . Both kevins and levi were very friendly and gave us all very good instruction and guidance on how to safely manouver the bike and ride to a good standard . The bikes were well looked after and were easy to ride . I will definitely be coming back for my mod 1 and mod2 training , cannot recommend this place enough .

Great team, went from not riding for around 6 years to getting my Mod 2 done with 0 faults. Would really recommend them, they give you practice before your test, great instructions and are honest in telling people they're ready enough without needing more lessons

On July 3rd, I successfully completed my Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) at Bridgend Motorcycle Training Centre. In my professional opinion, it is an exceptional motorcycle training facility that provides comprehensive instruction in a supportive and nurturing environment. I had the privilege of being trained by Stephen, a highly skilled and experienced instructor who imparted valuable techniques and ensured I had access to the best motorcycles for training. I highly recommend Bridgend Motorcycle Training Centre to anyone seeking CBT. Their commitment to excellence and personalized approach make them the ideal choice for motorcycle training.

Fantastic instructors that have guided me from never riding a motorcycle to passing a full, unrestricted motorcycle test. They are calm and helpful the whole time and dont ever over charge for lessons, if they think you are ready for your test they will advise to book it in straight away. I even moved to the Gloucester area and still found myself travelling back due to enjoying learning with them that much! Definitely worth doing your Motorcycle training with them!

It's not an easy place to find, so get there early. The entrance is hidden off a lane with a single rising entry gate like car parks. It is also a caravan and motorhome storage compound. BMT is about 30 yards, then turn left into a lane, then another 20 yards to small fenced compound. Park outside if in a car. Steve was my friendly and helpful instructor for CBT. Bikes are all quite new and well maintained. They also sell helmets and clothing and give excellent guidance. The teaching is in a portacabin, which is cold, so wrap up warm. I did not wear enough warm clothing. They supply tea/coffee, helmets and a jacket. Highly recommended 👌

5* service. We can't thank Kevin, Steve, and team enough for putting us at ease on 2 wheels. Will recommend to everyone. Thanks again. Update: Bec and I had two taster sessions last year before our trip away to South France. We have since caught the bug and returned to BMT to do our CBT and get our own bikes. Fantastic experience and cannot recommend BMT enough, especially Kev and both Steves. If you're thinking of getting a CBT, look no further.

In a little over two months I went from CBT to full pass! The instructors are quite simply the best. They make you feel relaxed so you can take their instruction in calmly and actually enjoy every second of it. If you are even just thinking about learning to ride, give these guys a call, you won’t be disappointed!

Trained at BMT through the whole of my bike training journey from CBT to Mod 2. CBT was a great day and a good introduction to the fundamentals of bike saftey and riding. The guys made it it more enjoyable than it has any right to be. MOD 1 training was quick and effective, only needed a few hours practice to come away with a clean sheet after my assessment. Mod 2 was much the same, 5 hours training with 1 hour the day before the test and 1 hour on the day. Got the all important pass first time round . A big thank you to Chris for guiding me through Mod 1 and 2. Made the whole process easy a stress free and most of all, a good bloody laugh. Finally a big thank you to Bridgend motorcycle training and everyone invloved in making it happen. See you on the road !

As an English as a second language, i would like to thank you Steve and Kevin for a very constructive CBT training. You both are resourceful, easy going and patience. Both theoretical and practical lessons are very helpful and give me a good grips how to ride safely. Appreciated.

My partner and I had two taster sessions with both Kevin and Steve in preparation for hiring scooters on holiday and it was absolutely amazing, both trainers were incredibly patient and helpful and just overall lovely guys who couldn’t do enough to help us. I was quite nervous but they put me at ease and talked me through anything I struggled with. 5 stars plus 1! Amazing all around. Thank you!!

Steve was a great trainer. I was so bad to start with I thought I was gonna be carted off in an ambulance 🤣 but I finished the day on a high as I quickly picked it up! Great training and well worth the sweat and perseverance 🤣

Great great experience! I would recommend booking the additional training option if you are going for your CBT training. I arrived without much knowledge about motorcycles and left with a passion for riding! Believe you can do it and you will do it. Bring your own great if you can though you don't wanna be riding with other people's gear.

Outstanding training by Lindsey. I've done a lot of off road motocross over the years so opted for the fast-rack one week course to do my Mod 1 & Mod 2 tests. Tips provided were spot on in getting me road ready, great training routes and a good laugh along the way - highly recommend!

I had my first taster lesson today, im not confident or have ridden a motorbike before, not even a push bike since a teen lol, but I really enjoyed!! I had one on one teacher called Steve that has a very calming nature, he talked myself through it all, and built my confidence I needed, staff are very friendly and professional, cant wait to go back again, thank you 😊

I headed down to BMTC on Thursday to complete my CBT. A special thank you to my instructor on the day Kevin Murphy, who was absolutely fantastic, a real asset to the company. After completing the day with virtually no motorcycle experience previously (bar a little taster session 8 years ago), I have left very well informed and with a great amount of confidence and knowledge. I'm very much looking forward to coming back in the future to complete the remaining tests.

I have used Bridgend Motorcycle Training for my CBT, MOD1, and MOD2 and I can honestly say they're an exemplary training school. From day 1 on my CBT I received a friendly and professional service hence why I continued my training with these guys. I feel like I have been trained properly not only how to ride a Motorcycle, but how to stay safe doing it, and how to look after my bike. I cannot fault any instructor and must say that they do their utmost to help you no matter your ability. I will be returning for some advanced training very soon. Would highly recommend to anybody!! Kind Regards Jamie

So pleased with the service I received at Bridgend Motorcycle Training. These guys know what they are doing and care about their students, I cannot fault them at all. My instructor Lindsey treated me like family, letting me tag along to practice rides before my test. He calmed my nerves before my mod2 and celebrated with me when I passed. Excellent training, great atmosphere, very much recommend!!

Did my first mod 1 session with these guys on Saturday. I didn't have much faith in my motorcycling ability after riding for only one year after a CBT. I thought it'd be 1:1 instruction but I was thankful to be participating with two others. Plenty of learning opportunities throughout the three hours including watching others, receiving personal constructive feedback, practical manoeuvres and group chats. Really enjoyed my time here, the instructors made me feel at ease and looking forward to my next session. Thank you 😊

Excellent riding school, can't recommend them enough. Very patient and professional instructors who teach constructively without knocking your confidence. Far better instruction and much better prices than another local school I'd been to previously. Good value for money. And the bikes are great, well maintained and very easy to get used to. Also covid safe

I was referred to this business by a close friend who completed his motorcycle training with them. I undertook my CBT, Part 1 and Part 2 motorcycle training with this business and in total I was trained by 3 different Instructors all of which struck the right balance between taking your training serious, making you feel relaxed, respecting the need for safety and delivering their messages in a way that was eenjoyable. There is no doubting the level of expertise and experience of these Instructors and you are always made welcome and part of the crew. Cllr Tony Crutcher

did my full bike license last year with BMTC and they are by far the best value for money, good teachers and excellent training yard.

Excellent, personal and very professional tuition from a highly competent team. Spent the morning working through the CBT basics, practicing on the yard: manoeuvring, breaking and general handling and care of the bike. Then out on the roads to practice for 2 hours in the afternoon. I hadn’t ridden a bike previously and decided to stick with an automatic scooter today to make sure I got through the training and felt comfortable on a bike. I’d recommend doing a one hour taster session especially if you’re thinking about doing the geared bike, because even as a car driver, the geared bikes are pretty tricky to learn in one day. I loved my experience, and would highly recommend others to train with these guys. Thanks again all!
