11 Celebs Making Motorbikes Cool (again)
Matt D · January 30, 2017
They never went away but in recent years motorbikes and scooters are making a big comeback. Led by TV idols such as David Beckham and Guy Martin and cool brands like Belstaff and Triumph. As more people look to escape the constraints of modern life, the beauty, simplicity and freedom that only 2 wheels provides is booming.
We’re not saying it’s connected, well not yet anyway but a lot of the men featured in our top 11 also now have beards... which are also back in fashion. Is there a correlation!?
David Beckham
Has to be one of the coolest men in the world still and we think a lot of that is down to the fact he rides motorbikes. Often seen tearing up the streets of LA on a Triumph or custom Harley. And let’s not forget the epic trip into the Brazilian jungle he did a few years back. We think Beckham's the perfect example of why you should get on your bike, and get that motorbike licence!
Guy Martin
The national treasure from Grimsby, 15 podium finishes on The Isle of Man TT and several series on Channel 4, Guy defines the endearing style of not giving a toss. He might not be a style icon but the man knows how to ride or drive anything. If you want some persuasion to take your CBT test, watch the channel 4 special of his adventures through China.
P!nk
Owner of both Harley and Triumph motorbikes, P!nk is definitely a committed rider. So much so she’s even married to an ex motocross champion - Carey Hart, which is where her love of motorbikes probably comes from. To her credit what’s cooler than cruising through LA on a Harley in a tank top!?
Brad Pitt
This guy could make an ice cream van cool but we love the fact he’s sticking to motorbikes for now.. Don’t go Rupert Grint on us! Brad has been papp’ed on a host of bikes over the years and has a real love for custom motorcycles. The photo below though proves you don’t need to spend $20,000 on a bike to look badass, you just need Angelina on the back of a scooter. Remember to always wear helmets though kids.
Ryan Gosling
This guy didn't exactly need a motorbike to get girls, but he went there anyway. He even did his own stunts in the 2012 film ‘The Place Beyond The Pines’, where he rides through a red light on an intersection and dodges 45 cars! Be sure to check out the director's cut of that getaway scene. Fair play Ryan. Remember to keep these stunts in Hollywood, you'll get your motorbike licence taken away pretty quick if you try this on the streets!
Ryan Reynolds
Another Ryan who rides. The Reynolds variety is a passionate biker who’s described his love of riding as his form of meditation; “you’re at play with the environment — you are in essence, I think, meditating.” He’s also the owner of one beautiful custom Triumph Thruxton cafe racer amongst other rides. Check out his short film below, pretty cool.
Orlando Bloom
You might not expect it but Orlando Bloom is a motorcycle man. The brit who broke Hollywood is more than partial to life on 2 wheels. Although he might save most his riding for sunny California, Italy and anywhere else it’s dry and beautiful, you can’t knock how good his custom BMW S100RR looks and his commitment to shipping it around the world with him. He’s also the owner of a couple of beautiful Ducatis.
Cara Delevingne - (as a passenger)
Hey we didn't say they had to have a full motorcycle licence or even a CBT licence to be on the list... She’s the face of every billboard and fashion show in the world. This girl sets trends by walking to the shops. And if she is going to get home on the ‘Uber for motorcycles’ - Passenger Bikes, then fair play! Her selfie taking is probably best suited to the passenger seat anyway..
Margot Robbie
This bike isn't even moving but Margot Robbie can make anything sexy. The Wolf Of Wall Street star turned bad for her latest film Suicide Squad, but the scene she shot on this bike didn't even make the final cut! Fingers crossed we'll be seeing her properly on two wheels soon, Margot you know where to come if you need to find a motorcycle school...
Ewan Mcgregor
Beautiful Hollywood celebs might be making motorcycles cool again, but the man from Scotland has been riding them for years. He’s probably done more miles than most will do in a lifetime and really gave birth to explosion in popularity of adventure riding and the bikes that followed. His epic "Long Way Round challenge" in which he rode 20,000-miles, crossed 12 countries and 19 time zones in just 115 days has inspired a new generation of people to get out there, take their CBT tests and pass their full motorbike licence.
There’s talk of another trip for him through South America one day, so watch this space!
Keanu Reeves
The Matrix Actor is pretty good at keeping out the spotlight and wasn't going to make it onto our list. Until we saw this photo of a beautiful 1973 Norton 850 Commando. Looking good Keanu.
So there you have it, 11 celebrities we think are helping with the rebirth of motorcycles. Who do you think we’ve missed out or should not be in the list? If these celebs have persuaded you to book your test, then click here and we can get started!
