The Zero FX promotes a classic dirt bike appearance that doesn't stand out from the typical off-road profile, however, as soon as you go inside, you will be able to see the true gem that the Zero FX is.

For those looking to get off the line quickly then the Zero FX does this like a rocket. The Zero FX is faster than a 250 gasoline-powered dirt bike, either four-stroke or two-stroke, and is encroaching on 450 territory. Remember, the FX is an electric bike, the e-industry not known for striking performance.

The FX has the capabilities of making an appearance on and off-road with the tires being dual surface compatible, with inverted front forks and mounted mudguard providing strength and protection from the bobbly street roads and any off-road adventure. Whether you are tackling soft or hard terrain, the FX has you covered.

The Zero FX has two power modes: Eco and Sport. A number of electric bikes promote a number of 'modes' where the eco modes are simply put in place to boost the range specs that the manufacturer wishses to reach with the 'sport' mode more for every day use as the more power is simply needed to be able to get up a 15 degree ascent. This is not the case for the FX, the sport mode utilises the 106 Nm of torque and many of those that have test rode the FX consider that the immediate power is something to behold. The softer ride and power mode that many will select and out of fear for the sport modes power is the eco mode, which still offers a great and 'interesting' ride. With a flick of the mode switch and turn of the throttle you will be able to push the Zero to its top speed on tarmac or fling the dirt off road in no time.

Those hardcore off-roaders that are looking to lock up the rear wheel and drift round corners then sadly they will be disappointed, with ABS installed as default. Additionally, the FX has kinetic energy braking, where every time you press the pads a little bit of kinetic juice will be sucked back into the motor.

The larger on board battery takes approximately 9 hours to recharge, and as for other Zero models (S and SR/F) you will be able to purchase accessory chargers to produce charge times of sub 2 hours. In terms of range you can expect as much as 46 miles in the city or 19 miles at motorway speeds. Naturally the terrain, pilot/passenger weight and riding style will affect that, but that’s the max you can expect.
